Do not let the pictures fool you! I don’t think it’s possible to capture a picture good enough to explain how DELICIOUS this smoothie is! Generally, I’m not a big smoothie fan. I mostly believe in getting your nutrients through solid foods – HOWEVER – when it comes finding healthy alternatives to cater to those chocolate craving moments (we all have them!), this does the trick!

Look at that creamy consistency!
Minus the amazing flavor, creamy consistency and few natural ingredients, you can consume this in many different ways! It makes for a great chocolate breakfast, 3pm crash afternoon snack or even a dessert! I also love to build parfaits with this – a layer of granola and strawberries, layer of smoothie! Grab a spoon and dig in!
Fun fact: Avocado is a healthy/good fat which means it is also slowly digestible which means, it will slow down the digestion in the ingredients in the shake which will avoid sugar level spikes and hunger 30 mins post shake! For this reason, I would not recommend consuming post work out. Remember post work out you need rapidly digestible foods.
Enjoy and indulge, guilt free!
Ingredients: 1 Serving
- 1 Frozen Banana (frozen banana is key to making this shake!)
- 1/4 Ripe Avocado
- 1 Tablespoon Cacao (I use Navitas Cacao)
- 1 Cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk (I use 365 Brand)
- 1/2 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
I am not a fan of protein powders because of all the fillers, so I use the below powders to add protein to my shake (which are most likely found in your protein powders just with a lot more ingredients such as truvia, stevia, xanthan gum, (gross), etc): Portion sizes are located on the bottles.
Vital Protein Collagen Peptides . What is this? Collagen protein is what is the most abundant protein in our body. It is needed for – skin, hair, nails, digestion (keeps your intestine lining strong & healthy), joints (protein needed for bone health), cellulite and stretch marks (when skin loosens we loose the elasticity in our skin which is a decrease in collagen.).
L-Gluatmine. An amino acid that promotes healthy digestion, brain function, muscle growth and regulates blood pressure (to name a few).
Amino 9 Essentials Powder. Contains the essential amino acids that our body does not natural make. We consume these in protein sources, specially animal proteins. We need these aminos so our body can break down food, repair body tissue (muscles!).
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend away! I usually let mine run for a good 45 secs to allow the frozen banana to chop properly!
- That’s IT!! It’s that easy!
